It has been reported that Five Star wrestling has been trying to contact CM Punk to tempt him to return to the ring!
Five Star Wrestling, a company in the UK who are planning a massive 128 Wrestler tournament which they announced on the 28th of January have been attempting for a long time to contact CM Punk to return! The Tournament was announced at a Show they held at the Dundee Ice Arena (which surprised me).
The show in January was televised on free TV in the UK (Spike) and featured a pretty poorly booked tournament in which the Local hero and clear fan Favourite, Drew Mcintyre, lost the tournament to Johnny Mundo ( Johnny Morrison to WWE fans ).
The reason I say this was poor is because the prize for the Tournament was the Five Start Wrestling title, which was being held by Johnny Mundo. So we had a very strange situation where the champion is placed into a tournament to keep his belt for no reason, which seems a little unfair but this also ruined what could have been a beautiful finish to the tournament as it was very clear that Drew should have won and if he had won Dundee ice arena may have melted to the ground but sadly they had booked themselves into a corner and Mundo had to win and Retain his title… it is then that they announced their massive Tournament , But I Digress… (I have wanted that out for a long time.).
Just as the title says, it seems that Five-star wrestling have been attempting to get CM Punk to leave his illustrious MMA career and return to the world of Wrestling for ONE MILLION DOLLARSSSS.
Here is the excerpt from n an interview with Gary Stonehouse of The Sun, and his discussion with Five Star’s Daniel Hinkles on trying to get CM Punk back to wrestling.
“We’ve been trying to contact CM Punk on and off for well over a year. We wanted him on the first show we did in Edinburgh in 2015. I’ve tried going through friends in the industry, I’ve gone through his website and sent dozens of emails but the opportunity has never been this big. We want to offer CM Punk $1 million dollars (£770,000) to come and join the 5 Star Wrestling tour starting June 10. It’s a genuine offer. We’d love to hear back from the man himself. We want to do this with him.”
On a personal level (Stevie posting here). I do not think CM punk would take them up on their offer, and this seems pretty clear as they have been trying to get a hold of him for a long time now, with the One Million dollar offer. CM Punk seems to be a man of his word and a man who has already made enough money to be able to turn down a million.
I don’t think this will ever happen, but this is wrestling and if he returns we will get a CM Punk vs Joe Coffey match, CM Punk vs Joe Coffey would make me a very happy Wrestling Fan! (unless Joe gets signed by WWE … he has to be on the list).
